ACGC picks up its first win of the season on senior night against Panorama, 6-3

After losing leads and competing late in games all season long, ACGC baseball (1-19) was able to mark one in the win column after defeating WCAC foe Panorama (7-14) at home on senior night, Monday, June 24. The game was tied, 3-3, heading into the sixth inning. ACGC rallied, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-3 lead they would see out. Jackson Pfrang contributed two RBIs, and Noah Kading, Ben Franzeen, Andrew Mahaffey and Colton Clark all had one RBI apiece. Tegan Slaybaugh made his contribution on the mound. The senior pitcher threw 75 pitches in seven innings, striking out two batters and ending the day with a 2.00 ERA. ACGC will travel to West Central Valley (6-17) for the Tigers’ senior night, Tuesday, June 25.

Panther Anglers compete at National High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship

Several Panorama students on the Central Iowa Student Anglers team made the trip to Lake Hartwell in South Carolina to compete in the 15th annual National High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship June 19-21. Competing groups were Gavin Lindstrom and Blake Schwartz, Emmet King and AJ Draper, and Noah Ponstein and Mason Carstens. While none of the boys made the World Finals, two groups made the final day of the High School National Championship team tournament. Their results are 132nd for Emmet King and AJ Draper, with their six fish weighing in at 9 pounds, 10 ounces. Gavin Lindstrom and Blake Schwartz placed 191st, with their five fish weighing in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces.

Panorama slide continues against ACGC, loses 5-0

Panorama softball’s (6-18) losing streak extends to seven games after its defeat to ACGC (9-11) on Monday, June 24. Panorama’s next games will be a senior night doubleheader against No. 10 Interstate 35 (15-13). Fourteen of Interstate 35’s wins have come during conference play.

Panthers fall late to Glidden-Ralston, 5-4

Panorama softball (6-17) lost to Glidden-Ralston (7-9) on Friday, June 21 away from home. After going down, 4-0, in the third inning, Panorama rallied to tie the game in the top of the fifth, 4-4, with four runs of its own. Glidden-Ralston used its home field advantage to the fullest, scoring the deciding run in the bottom of the seventh inning, winning the game, 5-4.

Panorama falters, loses to ACGC, 6-3

On Monday, June 24, Panorama baseball (7-14) traveled to ACGC (1-19) for the Chargers senior night. The game was tied, 3-3, heading into the sixth inning. Three runs from ACGC in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the difference maker. Panorama takes the field again tomorrow in a doubleheader against Interstate 35 (19-5), on Tuesday, June 25.
