Pastor Casey Brown of First Christian Church in Panora described his recent ordination.

“It was a nice service. It’s been a long time coming. This is my first church, but I’ve been a chaplain for a long time,” Brown said. “I’ve been here just over a year. We moved to Iowa three years ago.”

Pastor Brown explained what it means to become ordained.

“It comes with some ethical standards, and it come with a title,” Brown said. “But it’s really just a recognition of your leadership role, and you’ve done the work — the seminary work, the discernment work, the partnership work — to get to this stage.”

Pastor Brown shared that his wife, Heather Santi-Brown, also serves as a pastor. The couple has a daughter, Sophia, who is 6 years old.

When asked how long he expects to serve in Panora, Brown didn’t provide a definite timeline.

“As long as God has a plan for me here,” he said.
