Special to the Times Vedette

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, 12 Sunshine Club members and one guest met at the home of Gina Lloyd for an 11 a.m. Mother’s Day luncheon and meeting. Trudy called the meeting to order by everyone praying together the Lord’s prayer. The roll call was followed by 12 members and one guest sharing a picture of their mother and telling of the legacy she left behind. Many interesting responses were given. The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and the treasurer’s report was given. Old business was the lady from the crises center will be sharing on June 13 at the Morrisburg Church at 6 p.m. Some have volunteered to bring cookies for the event. Saturday, May 18 is the date for the Hollingsworth Nursery tour in Skidmore, Missouri, that some will be attending. They are to meet at the Congregational Church in Stuart at 6:30 a.m. to ride together. New business is that Jane Starr’s brother is having a celebration of her life since no funeral was held when she passed away. It will be held on May 25 at 11 a.m. at the Saint Center’s basement in Stuart. All club members are encouraged to attend. The event will be catered.  Trudy is still looking into volunteering with the Meals for the Heartland, and Gay is looking into a trip to Pella to get free tulips two weeks after the Tulip Festival. Next month’s meeting is with Wanda Johnson at her home on June 11. Some will be sharing rides to her home. Meeting was adjourned, and a delicious meal was served with several bringing a salad or dessert. Bingo was played with many nice prizes to complete the afternoon.
