ACGC volleyball (0-1) got its season underway on Tuesday, Aug. 27 against No. 13 Van Meter (2-1). The Chargers lost the away matchup, 3-0. Van Meter won the three sets 25-18, 25-23 and 25-15. Last season’s assist leader Shay Lemke picked up right where she left off. The senior had 16 of the team’s 22 assists. Becca Littler had the second most with four. The same went for last season’s kill leader Stella Largent, who had 15 of the team’s 22 kills, while also forcing 16 kill errors. Camdyn Richter was second behind Largent in both stats, with six kills and three kill errors. On defense, Ilana Baumert led the way with nine digs. Littler was just behind her with eight, Lemke with six and Largent with five. ACGC had five aces on the day, two coming from Richter and one apiece from Rylee Robson, Littler and Baumert. ACGC’s next game will be at home on Tuesday, Sept. 3 against Pleasantville (0-1).
