AJ Draper’s stellar offensive performance, coupled with a ball-hawking Panorama defense, gave the Panthers (1-4) its first win of the season over Southwest Valley (1-4), 14-0, on Friday, Sept. 27. Draper’s night saw him complete 14/21 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown, caught by Brayden Meinecke. Draper crossed the century mark on the ground with 106 yards on 20 carries for one score. Of Panorama’s 295 yards from scrimmage, Draper had his hand in 247 of them. Austin Wagner contributed 16 carries for 47 yards. Draper’s favorite target on the day, Reed Draper, hauled in six catches for 83 yards. On defense, Emmett King made himself at home in the Timberwolves backfield with three tackles for losses. Joel Cooper led the defense with 6.5 total tackles. Cruz Crandall was responsible for two interceptions on the night. Latyn Ashworth and Landon Kirtley also caused issues for the Southwest Valley passing attack, nabbing a pick each. The homecoming victory was the first win for new Head Coach Charlie Lake, and he’ll hope his team can carry this momentum into its next game this Friday, Oct. 4, when they travel to face a tough Earlham (4-1).
