Poldberg sets Panorama record at Madrid meet

Eight other schools joined the Panorama boys at Grant’s Woods Park yesterday, Sept. 5 to compete in the Madrid Cross Country meet. Three Panther boys ran at the meet including Noah Poldberg, Zach Hayden and Bennett Allen. Poldberg took first place at the meet in 17:36, smashing a school record for the course in the process. The senior beat his own record from last season, 18:26, by nearly a full minute. Poldberg is currently ranked third among 1A individuals. Hayden placed 31st in 21:37, his best run of the season.  Allen placed 46th in 23:29, setting his personal best time.

ACGC hosts Earlham in early season WCAC clash

Today, Friday, Sept. 6, ACGC (1-0) welcomes Earlham (1-0) onto its field as the Chargers look to keep their loss column clean. ACGC won the meeting between the two teams last season, 28-14. Both teams are coming off blowout victories from their week-one matchups. ACGC blanked Ogden, 40-0, while Earlham handled Central Decatur, 41-12.

Chargers sweep triangular meet, win all three games

ACGC volleyball (4-1) hosted a triangular on Thursday, Sept. 5 against Nodaway Valley (0-7), Exira-EHK (3-1) and West Central Valley (0-4). The Chargers came out of the meet without losing a single set, beating each team 2-0. ACGC’s next test will be another battle against West Central Valley on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Five-set battle gets ACGC into win column against Pleasantville, 3-2

A back-and-forth matchup between host ACGC (1-1) and Pleasantville (4-4) took place on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Pleasantville took the first set and traded wins with the Chargers until it was  tied after four. ACGC won the fifth and final set, 15-13, to secure the victory.

Out of 55 total assists for the team, Shay Lemke provided 51. Stella Largent led the way in kills with 41 out of the team’s 58. Largent also forced 17 kill errors. Camdyn Richter was just behind her with 13 kill errors. Becca Littler was key on defense with the junior contributing 30 digs. On serves, Largent with seven and Lemke with six, led the way on aces.

ACGC girls take eighth at Dallas Center Grimes meet

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the ACGC girls cross country team competed against 11 other schools at the Dallas Center Grimes meet. The Chargers placed eighth with 201 points. Indianola won the meet with 36 points. Ava Campbell, ranked 15thamong 1A individuals, had the fastest time for the girls, finishing in 12th at 21:08.2

“I was happy with the runners for making an effort to make their mile splits more consistent across the race,” Head Coach Rick Blake said. “And many did a good job of staying engaged throughout the race to try to pick up as many places as possible.”

The next test for ACGC is Thursday, Sept. 12 when the team travels to Ames to compete against 18 other teams.
