Patriot’s Day program on Sept. 11

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 124 and the Guthrie Center Fire Department invite the public to join them in remembering Patriot’s Day on Sept. 11. They will be holding a short program at 7 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Wall at the Guthrie County Courthouse, 200 North Fifth St. in Guthrie Center. Bring your lawn chairs.

Sheriff’s Office reports August revenues of $35,750 for processing of out-of-county inmates

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office reported incoming revenue of $35,750 from the processing of out-of-county inmates at the jail during August. A total of 75 inmates were processed through the facility during the month including 36 from out of the county. This includes $600 in jail fees for a male serving time for Palo Alto County. Stated revenues are billed amounts not collected amounts.  

  • Department of Corrections had one inmate for 19 days with charges of $950.
  • Greene County had six inmates for 102 days with charges of $6,120
  • Polk County had 26 inmates for 437 days with $26,220
  • Webster County had two inmates for 31 days with $1,860

Cribbage results from Sept. 2

On Sept. 2, a total of seven players participated, but five got high scores. Joanne Zeiser got an 18, and Sandy Rumelhart got a 22. Clint Malbon, Larry Gardiner and Wayne Nickel finished up with 16s.

The Guthrie Center cribbage players generally meet at Guthrie Center Library on Mondays at 8 a.m., at the New Homestead independent living rec room at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays, and at the Guthrie Center Activity Center at 1 p.m. on Fridays. Organizers say there is always room for more, and they will be glad to teach you how to play. They play for quarters on Wednesday and Friday.
