Panorama Women’s Golf League: Dunlap and Koeningsberg are low scratch winners with a 33

A total of 56 women played in the Panorama Women’s Golf League on July 15.  

In the A group, Ai Dunlap and Kelli Koeningsberg were the low scratch winners with a 33. The second low scratch winners were Emily Spradling and Carol VanKirk with a 35. Amy Ganske, Dee Tometich and Carol VanKirk were the HDCP winners with a 25. The special event was longest putt on No. 2, and Kathy Klinge was the winner. Kathy Klingealso had the fewest putts with 14. 

In the B group, Ann Chambers was the low scratch winner with a 42. The second low scratch winner was Linda Wendlwith a 35. The HDCP winner was Diane Pieper with a 22. The special event was longest putt on No. 2, and JoAnn Smithwas the winner. Diane Pieper had the fewest putts with 17.

Amy Ganske, Debbie Rockwell and Amy Johnson each had a birdie.

Panorama School Board approves teacher leaders and handbooks

During the July 14 regular meeting of the Panorama School Board, the board members approved the consent agenda, which included hiring Tyler Prussing as high school boys wrestling coach. It also included the following 2025-2026 teacher leader positions: Kelly Blomquist as instructional coach; Ginger Lindstrom, Steve Hameister, Randy Miller, Jacki King, Deb Wooldridge and Greg Thompson at the secondary school; and Mollie Lint, Lindsey Schroeder, Kelly Nunn, Audra Johnson, McKinsey Druivenga and Jessica Diltz at the elementary.

In the “Good News” portion of the meeting, it was noted that Nicole Dorhout was named one of three members of the 2025-26 class of Museum Teacher Fellows at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The board approved the 2025-2026 Certified Employee Handbook, Non-Certified Employee Handbook, Bullying/Harassment Handbook, Elementary School Handbook, Preschool Handbook, Secondary School Handbook, Milk Bids, and District Fee Adjustments.

The board went into a closed session for superintendent evaluation. Superintendent Huebner is to develop his 2025-26 goals, which will be reviewed by the board at future meetings.

The next regular meeting of the school board was switched to Aug. 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Play Glow Golf at Anita on July 25

On Friday night, July 25, the Crestwood Hills Golf Course in Anita will host a four-person best-ball golf tournament. The tournament will begin at 8:30 p.m. using glow golf balls.

Preregistration cost is $40 per person, plus cart (or bring your own). On the day of the event, registration cost rises to $45. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Catch the figure 8 races at the fairgrounds Saturday

The Guthrie County Fairgrounds will host figure 8 stock car races on Saturday, July 19 beginning at 6 p.m. Admission cost is $10 (kids 5 and younger admitted free). A pit pass costs $20.

Cribbage results from July 16

On July 16, a total of 10 players participated. Sandy Rumelhart got a 16 and a 17; Jim Carico got a 17; Larry Gardner got a 16; Chet Vaughan had two 16s; and Lela Schwartz won the kitty with a 20.

The Guthrie Center cribbage players generally meet at Guthrie Center Library, 400 Grand St., on Mondays at 8 a.m. and at the New Homestead independent living dining hall, 2306 State St., at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays and at 1 p.m. on Fridays. Organizers say there is always room for more, and they will be glad to teach you how to play. They play for quarters on Wednesday and Friday.
