Here’s a hug!

Shane, I read your column every time I get your email/paper (A lousy hugger?, Oct. 31, 2025). I think your column is great. I am a little older than you but can relate to every story that comes from your childhood/life! Even though I may never meet you, here’s a HUG! LOL. – Jeanne

God made the fly…

“Shane, as I read your column on flies (Friday, Oct. 17, 2025) with nearly two dozen of them on the inside of the screen in my home office, this old saying kept running through my mind: “God made the fly — and forgot to tell us why.” – Becky Simpson

Matching receipts

“Shane, your columns most always bring something to mind (A man and his wallet, Sept. 19, 2025). I wasn’t a follower of ‘Seinfeld’ before, but I have watched some lately on late night boredom. The matching receipts to monthly statements, I believe, is a rarity these days. Those of us with business backgrounds and accountability are used to it for expense accounts and good business practices. I still do it today. Maybe your next survey should be of what percent of your readers do this practice. My guess would be less than one in three.” – Mike Simpson

Congratulations

“Shane, congratulations on your Distinguished Service Award (Goodman honored with ACP Distinguished Service Award, Sept. 16, 2025). Very well deserved! We’re so lucky to have you and Jolene as members of our community.” – Chris Arganbright.

You care about your work

“Shane, congratulations on the ACP award (Goodman honored with ACP Distinguished Service Award, Sept. 16, 2025). Very well deserved. What you put into the Vedette and your other publications shows you care about your work and the award validates that you give back to your profession.” – Doug Saltsgaver

Best buy dates and expiration dates

I agree with you (publisher column, Sept. 9, 2025), but there are two dates that confuse consumers: the best buy date and the expiration date.  There is a significant difference, and I still agree with you — looks and smell go a long way. Another expiration thought — all the stuff we store around our places and just need to throw out as we haven’t looked at or used it in years! – Mike Simpson
