Panorama girls secure win over Madrid, 49-39

The Panorama girls basketball team (6-12) defeated Madrid (8-8) at home on Tuesday, Jan. 27. After going into the second quarter leading 14-12, the Panthers dominated the second quarter, outscoring Madrid 19-2 to lead 33-14 into the break. Madrid would outscore Panorama in the next two quarters but could not overcome the lead the Panthers built. This was a team effort on all fronts for Panorama. Three girls tied for the team in points with 11: Ashley Crees, Morgan Crees and Nerea Gimeno-Perez. Morgan Crees added six rebounds and four assists. Gimeno-Perez had three rebounds and four assists. Ashley Crees had five rebounds and two assists.

The next game for the Panthers is at Woodward-Granger (9-5) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Panorama sits two spots behind the Hawks on the WCAC table. W-G has won the last two games against Panorama, including a win earlier this season, 57-43.

Panorama boys sweep Lynnville-Sully quadrangular

The Panorama boys wrestling team won all three of its duals at a Lynnville-Sully quadrangular on Thursday, Jan. 29. Panorama defeated East Union, 30-30 via tiebreaker. Then defeated Lynnville-Sully, 42-24, and Pleasantville, 42-30.

Panorama competes in the Charger Invitational this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 31. Panorama will compete against ACGC, AHSTW, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Eagle Grove, Earlham, Emmetsburg, Greene County, Manson-NW Webster, Moravia, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, Perry, Riverside, Southeast Polk, Southeast Valley, Southeast Warren, Wayne, West Central Valley and West Hancock.

Panther girls wrestle at state-qualifier meet in Colfax today

The Panorama girls wrestling team will compete in the state-qualifier meet at Colfax-Mingo in the Class 1A Region 2 state qualifier meet today, Friday, Jan. 30. The champion and runner-up from each weight class will qualify for the state tournament Feb. 5-6.

Other teams at the meet will be Central Decatur, Chariton, Clarke Community, Colfax-Mingo, Earlham, East Union, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Interstate 35, Kuemper Catholic, Martensdale-St Marys, Mount Ayr, Ogden, Saydel, Southeast Warren, Southwest Valley, Wayne and West Liberty.

Charger boys play at West Central Valley on Tuesday

The ACGC boys basketball team (6-9) travels to West Central Valley (11-5) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The Wildcats picked up a narrow 69-61 victory over ACGC earlier this season. Before that, the Chargers had not lost to WCV since 2018.

ACGC girls travel to I-35 tonight

The ACGC girls basketball team (13-3) play at Interstate 35 (7-9) tonight, Friday, Jan. 30. ACGC won the last matchup between these a season ago, 52-25. After some struggles midseason, the Chargers are on a four-game win streak. I-35 has split its last four games, 2-2, with its most recent loss coming against Des Moines Christian, 68-18.

Chargers win home dual vs. Perry, host Charger Invitational on Saturday

The ACGC boys wrestling team defeated Perry in a dual meet on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The Chargers won, 48-35. The victory served as a solid warmup ahead of the Charger Invitational, hosted by ACGC on Saturday, Jan. 31. The Chargers will host AHSTW, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Eagle Grove, Earlham, Emmetsburg, Greene County, Manson-NW Webster, Moravia, Nodaway Valley, Ogden, Panorama, Perry, Riverside, Southeast Polk, Southeast Valley, Southeast Warren, Wayne, West Central Valley and West Hancock.
