Panther boys drop game against Woodward-Granger, 61-43

The Panorama boys basketball team (1-18) lost at Woodward-Granger (11-7) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Panorama had this game tied up at halftime, 28-28, against a solid W-G side. However, the Hawks would put their foot on the gas in the third quarter, creating a 10-point gap and extending that lead in the fourth.

Panorama girls host No. 2 Des Moines Christian tonight

The Panorama girls basketball team (6-13) plays at home against No. 2 Des Moines Christian (17-2) tonight, Friday, Feb. 6. DM-C has won the last three games against the Panthers, including a 65-35 win last season.

Panorama girls fall to Woodward-Granger, 60-45

The Panorama girls basketball team (6-13) lost at Woodward-Granger (13-5) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. A strong first quarter from the Hawks gave them all the breathing room needed to stave away a late Panther comeback attempt. Morgan Crees led Panorama in scoring with 10 points. Ines and Nerea Gimeno-Perez both nearly reached double-figure scoring with nine points each. Ashley Crees led the team in rebounds with four. Nerea Gimeno-Perez led the team in assists with three.

Panorama to wrestle at Lynx Invitational on Saturday

The next competition for the Panther wrestlers is the Lynx Invitational, hosted by Webster City. Other teams competing will be Des Moines Lincoln, Des Moines North, Des Moines Roosevelt and Webster City.

Charger boys lose to No. 6 Coon Rapids-Bayard, 74-40

The ACGC boys basketball team (8-10) was defeated by No. 6 Coon Rapids-Bayard (18-1) away from home on Thursday, Feb. 5. ACGC kept it close it at the start of this game, trailing 14-8 at the end of the first quarter. The following two quarters, the Crusaders outscored ACGC 50-20, leading to their eventual win.

ACGC hosts Pleasantville (11-7) tonight, Friday, Feb. 6. ACGC won the game between these squads last season, 55-50.

Charger boys upset West Central Valley, 64-55

The strong second half of the season continued for the ACGC boys basketball team (8-9) with an away win against West Central Valley (12-8) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The game puts the Chargers one win away from reaching .500, something that seemed like a far cry just a few weeks ago.

Joe Crawford led the Chargers in scoring with 19 points, shooting 50% from the field, and led the team in assists with seven. William Skram with 14 and Blaize Dorsey with 13 joined him in double-figure scoring. The most impressive stat line came from Johnny Kading, who had eight points, 16 rebounds, four steals, four blocks and three assists.
