On Tuesday, June 11, ACGC baseball (0-12) hosted Madrid (8-8) in a doubleheader.

Game one, 13-3 L

ACGC had six hits in game one, all singles. Tommy Skram, Jackson Pfrang and Chase Slaybaugh scored three runs for the Chargers. Noah Kading was the source for ACGC’s lone RBI. ACGC did the majority of its damage on the base paths, stealing six bases. Skram with two and Pfrang, Slaybaugh, Kading and Ben Franzeen all with one.

Game two, 19-10 L

The Chargers produced at a much higher rate on offense in the second leg. A surge in the third inning saw ACGC take a 4-3 lead. Madrid quickly answered with a seven-run fourth inning to take back the lead, 10-4. Another big inning from Madrid in the top of the sixth was enough to keep ACGC at bay. RBIs came from up and down the order for the Chargers. Franzeen, Andrew Mahaffey and Pfrang provided two each. Slaybaugh, Blaize Dorsey and eighth-grader Sayer Bireline-Huss each added one. Skram and Pfrang each hit .750 on the day, both going three-for-four at the plate. Slaybaugh and Bireline-Huss split time on the mound. Slaybaugh pitched five and one-third innings, throwing 105 pitches and striking out two batters. In Bireline-Huss’ one and two third innings, he struck out four batters out of the nine he faced.
