The ACGC boys wrestling team hosted the Charger Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31. With a total of 21 teams competing, ACGC finished fifth overall with 137.5 points. Riverside, Oakland, won the tournament with 196.5.
Two Chargers stood atop the podium at the end: Charlie Christensen (144) and Carter Richter (215). Christensen won his final match over Preston Gayken of West Hancock by fall. Richter won his championship over Taren Dierking of Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas by decision. Other Charger medalists were Chase Slaybaugh (120), placing third; Lane Stringer (157), who placed fourth; and Morgun Nolte (190) and Ryder Cline (150), who both placed sixth.
ACGC’s next scheduled meet is on Feb. 14, the 1A District 2 meet at Colfax-Mingo.
