It’s now back-to-back 10-win seasons and another trip to the quarterfinals for the ACGC football team. The Chargers (10-0) defeated Mount Ayr (7-3), at home, 41-14 in the Class A second round on Friday, Nov. 1. Mike Fuller, Jathan South and Brexton Schneider headed up the 41-point performance. Fuller had 22 carries for 106 yards and one TD. South had eight carries for a team-high 122 yards and two TDs. Schneider had nine carries for 90 yards and two TDs. Ryder Cline led the defense in tackles with five. Xander Harwood led in tackles for losses with two. A big reason for the Chargers victory was winning the turnover battle. ACGC recovered three fumbles, with one going for a TD by Jonathan Martinez. Eli Madsen and Thomas Skram both had interceptions.

Next up, ACGC will host Tri-Center (9-1) on Nov. 8 with a trip to the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls on the line. These two teams haven’t faced each other since 2019 when ACGC won, 52-20. Tri-Center has several of class A’s best offensive players including quarterback AJ Harder, who leads the division in passing TDs with 24 and passing yards with 2,233. Running back Cater Kunze ranks second in rushing touchdowns with 31. Wide receiver Zach Nelson ranks second in receiving TDs with 12. Nelson (863) and fellow receiver Cael Witt (878) rank third and fourth in receiving yards.
