Panorama girls basketball (1-0) played its season debut at home against Creston (2-1) on Tuesday, Nov. 26, winning 63-51. It wasn’t an easy victory for the Panthers, though. Panorama was trailing at the half, 34-28. A strong third quarter where Panorama’s defense held Creston to just six points allowed Panorama to take a four-point lead heading into the fourth. Panorama had its highest-scoring quarter of the game in the fourth with 19, propelling them to the double-digit victory. The Panthers did well in distributing their scoring with four players reaching double figures. Morgan Crees led with 18; Kelsey Laabs and Arilyan Steenblock had 14 apiece; and Nerea Perez tacked on 13. Perez had the hot hand from deep. She was the only Panther to score from beyond the arc, hitting four three-pointers. Crees stuffed the stat sheet, adding seven rebounds, four assists and four steals to her team-high in points. Laabs’ 12 rebounds gave her a double-double. Panorama’s next game will be at home against Woodward-Granger (2-0) on Dec. 3.
