Panorama volleyball (10-11) played in two games at the WCAC tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 15, against Ogden (7-15) and Pleasantville (23-11). After dropping its first game of the WCAC tournament on Monday, Oct. 14 to Woodward-Granger, 2-0, Panorama was sent into the consolation bracket, sweeping Ogden in the semis, 2-0, then, losing to Pleasantville in the consolation finals, 2-0, resulting in its sixth-place finish. Host Des Moines Christian won the tournament.

 

Game 1 vs. Ogden

Panorama swept Ogden, winning 25-18 and 25-13 sets. Faith Recker led in assists with seven. Kills were spread out with Cayden Iredale, Gracie Recker and Hanna Smith all contributing a team high-three kills. Jessica Randol had four kill errors. On defense, Madison Mincy and Faith Recker tied for a team high in digs with five. Mincy was also solid behind the line with a team-high four aces. Elizabeth Synder and Elah Molloy were both perfect on serves, 8/8 for Synder and 5/5 for Molloy.

Game 2 vs. Pleasantville

Panorama was swept by Pleasantville, losing close 25-19 and 25-21 sets. Nerea Gimeno Perez led in assists with six. Cayden Iredale led the team in kills, with six, and kill errors, with five. Mincy was active on the defensive side of the net with a team-high eight digs. Panorama’s one ace came from Kelsey Laabs, who went a perfect 16/16 serving.

Panorama girls made some noticeable improvements this season. They ended the 2023 regular season in eighth place in the WCAC with a 7-23 record and 3-4 in conference. In 2024, they finished the regular season at 10-11, 4-2 in conference and fourth in the WCAC standings.

Now comes the postseason for Panorama. On Monday, Oct. 21, the team will host Pocahontas Area (11-16) in the Class 2A Region 6 first round. Last season, Panorama won its first-round matchup against West Central Valley before losing to ACGC in the second round.
