Panorama boys cross country’s Noah Poldberg was the lone Panther to qualify for the 1A cross country state championship meet at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge on Nov. 2. Gavin Grunhovd of North Iowa Buffalo Center placed first overall in 15:57.5. Lake Mills won the state title with 88 points.

Poldberg placed 24th in 16:55, a lifetime best for the senior.

“Noah ran the best race of his career,” Head Coach Greg Thompson said. “Noah was the leader for stretches and used his state meet experience and success as a runner to help guide the boys and the girls.”

Thompson added, “Noah ran a smart race. It would have been easy to go out too fast, but he saved some energy for the last part of the race.”

In addition to his Second Team All-State performance, Poldberg was named to the IATC Academic All-State team and the All Conference Second-Team in the WCAC.
