LOADED FOR BEAR. Dick Zieser, left, of Guthrie Center, Bill Kinsey, center, of Stuart, and Melvin Hackwell, Greenfield, returned this weekend from a 10-day hunting trip with an unexpected prize, a 350-pound black bear. The hunters shot the bear while hunting moose near Perrault Falls, Ontario, Canada. The three were in a boat when they shot the bear on the shoreline. The bear retreated to the “bush” where it was finally tracked down and killed.
The bear was shot with a 300 Winchester magnum and a 3006. Its meat will be smoked, and it was announced it will soon become a rug. The hunters also got their moose.
