HANNER INDUCTED INTO PHEASANTS FOREVER HALL OF FAME. Joe Hanner has been involved with the Guthrie County Pheasants Forever chapter since 1987 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame Sept. 20. There are more than 100 Pheasants Forever chapters in the state, and only about 50 people have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

WEATHER BALLOON. Kolland Betts and Roy Avey hold a weather balloon found in Betts’ pasture last week while all the interest was focused on a large shiny balloon in the Des Moines area. Betts was trying to locate how far the instrument had travelled. Instructions on the balloon were to turn it in at any post office.
