Casey Public Library News

By Beth Rogers | Special to the Times Vedette

We had a wonderful “Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Feb. 7. Casey Public Library and Betterment hosted this event, which gave parents, grandparents and kids a chance to explore our great library and find out all we have to offer. Cookies and lemonade were served by the CPL Betterment Committee, and several of our young patrons helped with crafts and demonstrated a variety of fun activities. The Moreland family won the $25 in Casey Bucks that was generously donated! We still encourage parents to bring their child in and “check us out”!

Knit your own socks!

We have an instructor offering to teach “Knit your own socks!” in three to four sessions. She will provide a basic pattern, teach “casting on” that is best for the sock, the heel stitch that wears well, the heel turn (where the heel shapes the beginning of the foot underneath), adding the instep, and shaping the instep. At the end is “shaping the toe” and the Kitchener stitch that closes the toe. If interested in joining, please e-mail caseylib@netins.net.
