Both endzones saw plenty of action during a barnburner of a game between No. 2 ACGC (5-0) and Riverside (3-2) on Friday, Sept. 27. The Chargers, now ranked second by the IHSAA in the A division, were down, 29-21 at halftime and tied 36-36 heading into the final quarter. ACGC scored twice in the fourth quarter, resulting in the massive 50-42 scoreline and win. By the time the final whistle sounded, there was 823 yards from scrimmage between the teams and 12 touchdowns. ACGC completed one pass for six yards, meaning the lion’s share of the offense came from 60 rushing attempts for 470 yards. Mike Fuller led the way with 31 carries for 211 yards and three scores. Jathan South was behind him with 16 carries for 160 yards and four touchdowns. Ben Franzeen and Brexton Schneider led on defense with 5.5 tackles each. Schneider also had two tackles for losses. Taytum Bates recovered a fumble. Next up for the No. 2 Chargers is an away trip to IKM-Manning (2-3) this Friday, Oct. 4. ACGC narrowly defeated the Wolves last season, 35-31.
