Guthrie County Chief Deputy Todd Thorn reported a car vs. deer accident occurring on Jan. 1 at 5:50 p.m. on Wagon Road. Ashlyn Rose Bush, 24, of Stuart was driving a 2015 Jeep Renegade Sport northbound on Wagon Road north of 230th and a deer ran into the driver’s side of the vehicle, causing an estimated $2,500 in damage.

ACGC boys wrestling will travel to Lisbon High School on Saturday, Jan. 4 to compete in the Lions Den Duals. Other teams at the competition will be host Lisbon, Mount Vernon, Clayton Ridge, Cedar Rapids Washington and Highland.

Panorama boys basketball (1-7) hosts Pleasantville (2-3) tonight, Jan. 3. Panorama will be looking to come back from winter break with a fresh start to what has been a challenging season. If the Panthers want to get back in the win column, they will have to keep Pleasantville’s Braylon Bingham in check. The sophomore is averaging 26.2 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Panorama won the matchup last season, 62-38.

Panorama girls basketball (6-2) will host Pleasantville (5-2) tonight, Jan. 3. Both programs are coming off losses, with Panorama falling to No. 15 ACGC and Pleasantville losing to Des Moines Christian. Panorama dominated the last meeting, winning 80-29. The programs each have one of the WCAC’s best scorers. Panorama’s Morgan Crees is averaging 19.5 points per game, while Pleasantville’s Joelle Johnson is averaging 18.3. Expect those two to battle it out in a solid conference matchup.
