Panorama baseball snaps losing streak against West Central Valley, 4-1

The Panorama baseball team (4-13) defeated West Central Valley (5-12-1) at home on Tuesday, June 24 in a close contest, 4-1. No runs were scored in the game until Panorama scored three in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead. West Central Valley would answer back with one run in the top of the fifth inning, but Panorama stopped any comeback efforts.

RBIs were by Joel Cooper with two and Cruz Crandall with one. Crandall’s double was the team’s only extra-base hit. Parker Cary was dominant on the mound. In his six and one-third innings pitched, Cary struck out nine batters, allowing one earned run.

Panorama softball drops close one to ACGC, 10-9

The Panther softball team (6-15) battled ACGC (2-16) in a close, back-and-forth game but came up a run short in the 10-9 loss Wednesday, June 25, at home.

Bats were hot from the beginning with both teams scoring three runs in the first inning. Panorama took a 5-3 lead, which held until the fourth inning when ACGC plated three runs to go on top 6-5. The Panthers answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth for a 7-6 lead. ACGC bounced back with three runs in the sixth to lead and another in the seventh to take a lead the Panthers couldn’t overcome. 

Emma Walker, Lexi Galvan and Leah Kastner scored twice, and Bridgete White, Ava Thompson and Ines Gimeno-Perez each added a run. Galvan hit a home run. Andrea Knode led in RBIs with three, with Galvan adding two and Leah Kastner and Arilyan Steenblock adding one apiece. Knode and Galvan split time on the mound.

Panorama softball dominates East Union, 17-2

The Panorama softball team (6-14) put together a dominant performance at home against East Union (4-14) on Wednesday, June 25. The Panthers controlled the game throughout.

“We had a lot of great approaches at the plate by all the girls tonight, and we were able to put the ball in play and hit the ball hard. Andrea pitched a heck of a game, and the defense made the plays when the ball found them. Our girls did a great job of being ready to go from the first pitch, and us coaches couldn’t be happier to see that,” Head Coach Ismael Galvan said.

Arilyan Steenblock had the hot bat in this one. She batted in four runs on three hits. Andrea Knode was solid as well with the game’s only home run and three RBIs. Lexi Galvan contributed two RBIs. Bridgete White and Hannah Dishman each had one RBI.

Panther softball wins thriller over West Central Valley, 13-12

The Panorama softball team (5-14) defeated West Central Valley (11-10) at home on Tuesday, June 24, 13-12. This was a back-and-forth game from the beginning.

“What a win tonight for this Panther softball team. We battled all the way to the end, keeping our composure even after giving up a six-run lead,” Head Coach Ismael Galvan said. “These girls stayed mentally tough and kept pushing forward and never faltered. Andrea Knode came up with the big hit of the night, roping a three-run homerun to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. We then were able to shut it down in the top of the seventh with the tying run at third to get the victory. What a fun and exciting game that we were able to come out on top at the end and look forward to keeping the momentum going tomorrow night.”

Leah Kastner was dominant at the plate as well. She had three hits for a team-high four RBIs. Knode had three RBIs, and Bridgete White had two. Lexi Galvan and Ava Thompson contributed one RBI apiece.

Casey Fun Days is July 18-19

Casey Fun Days will be held Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19. Full details and any updates/changes will be posted on the Casey Service Club’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064639183671). Most events will be held in the area of McPherson Street near the Casey Public Library, City Hall and downtown businesses. Some events will be held at Casey City Park (Rutt Park, 300 E. Second St.).

Friday events kick off with a kids’ parade at 6 p.m., followed by a foam party and bags tournament. A beer tent and band (The Bird Hunters) will play at Tin Lizzie’s from 8:30-11:30 p.m.

Saturday downtown events include the 5K and 1-mile runs at 7 a.m., with a pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. A bake sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. The bug parade begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by Methodist Church lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also at 11 a.m. is a corn-shelling demonstration. The Historical Society building will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be a car and tractor show. At 3 p.m., the Science Heroes Show will be held. Tin Lizzie’s will host a beer tent and live band (Burnin’ Sensations) from 8:30-11:30 p.m.

Saturday events at Rutt Park include inflatables from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., decorate your own piggy bank from noon to 2 p.m., lunch by the ACGC Class of 2026, and bingo at 1 p.m.
