Charger softball snatches close win over Panorama, 10-9

The ACGC softball team (2-16) won a close game away from home against Panorama (6-15) on Wednesday, June 25. This game was a back-and-forth battle from start to finish.

The game started fast with both teams scoring three runs each in the first inning, tied 3-3. Panorama took the lead in the top of the second, 5-3. ACGC struck back in the top of the fourth inning, 6-5. The Panthers answered immediately, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain the lead, 7-6. Panorama added to that lead in the next inning, now up 8-6. ACGC bounced back again, scoring three in the top of the sixth to lead, 9-8. ACGC added another run in the top of the seventh for a 10-8 lead. Panorama would score one in the final inning, giving the Chargers the win, 10-9. Ballgame.

Belle Fagan had three RBIs to lead the Chargers. Kailee Kautzky had two. Karli Kautzky and Olivia Mahaffey had one. Runs were scored by Jayla Hoover, 2; Camdyn Richter, 2; Jacie Baker, 2; Cayden Boals, 1; Mahaffey, 1; Savannah Akers, 1; and Kailee Kautzky, 1. Hoover and Richter split time on the mound.

The ACGC vs. Earlham softball double header scheduled for Thursday, June 26, was cancelled.

ACGC softball loses to Woodward-Granger, 10-2

The ACGC softball team (1-16) lost its away game against Woodward-Granger (14-7-1) on Tuesday, June 24. The game was tied, 1-1, at the end of the first inning. An eight-run explosion by the Hawks carried them to victory.

The Chargers’ runs were scored by Karli Kautzky and Kailee Kautzky. Caydence Boals and Olivia Mahaffey also picked up hits. Camdyn Richter spent two and one-third innings on the mound, striking out three batters. Megan Underwood pitched the other one and two-third innings, striking out one.

ACGC baseball shuts out Panorama, 8-0

ACGC baseball (7-10-1) made a quick return to the win column at home against WCAC rival Panorama (4-14) on Wednesday, June 25. ACGC scored two early runs and never looked back.

Noah Kading swung the hot stick. He had four RBIs on two hits. Tommy Skram added two RBIs on three hits. William Skram and Taytum Bates had one RBI each. Tommy Skram was able to steal two bases. Kading was also excellent on the mound, pitching all seven innings, striking out six batters and walking only one to pick up the shutout win.

ACGC was set to play a double header against Earlham on Thursday, June 26, but the games were cancelled.

ACGC baseball drops game against Woodward-Granger, 9-4

The ACGC baseball team (6-10-1) lost its away game against Woodward-Granger (9-10-1) on Tuesday, June 24, 9-4. ACGC took a 3-2 lead in the top of the second inning but gave up four runs in the bottom half. Woodward-Granger would keep the lead from then on.

Jackson Pfrang led the team with two RBIs with two singles. Tommy Skram and William Skram had one RBI each. Blaize Dorsey pitched four innings, striking out one and allowing three earned runs. Joseph Fagan took over for two innings, allowing no hits.

Panther baseball falls to ACGC, 8-0

The Panorama baseball team (4-14) was shut out away from home against ACGC (7-10-1) on Wednesday, June 25. The Panthers had seven hits in this game, only five fewer than ACGC, but were unable to get the runners home. Parker Cary had two hits. Cruz Crandall had a double. Bryce Dawes spent six innings on the mound. He struck out five batters. Nolan Sheehy took over for one inning of work, striking out one batter and allowing zero earned runs.

Panorama’s Thursday, June 26, home game against Exira-EHK was cancelled.
