ACGC volleyball wins 3, drops 2 at Griswold Tournament

The ACGC girls volleyball team (8-4) competed at the Griswold Varsity Tournament on Saturday. Sept. 13. ACGC played in five games at the tournament, winning three and losing two to help boost their record. Stella Largent and Camdyn Richter were named to the Griswold All-Tournament team as voted for by other coaches for their performances.

ACGC hosts a quadrangular tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 16, with Greene County (4-6), South Central Calhoun (6-10) and Panorama (2-4) also competing.

No. 4 ACGC throttles Nodaway Valley, 54-0

No. 4 ACGC (3-0) added another blowout victory to its resume after defeating Nodaway Valley (1-2) at home on Friday, Sept. 12. Thomas Skram threw the Chargers only pass for 18 yards and a score to Joe Crawford. Ten different Chargers recorded rushing attempts, and six different players reached pay dirt. Crawford led with five carries for 111 yards and one TD. Lane Stringer had the most carries with 12 for 81 yards. Ryder Cline, Andrew Baumert, Brexton Schneider, Thomas Skram and Jack Sheeder all scored rushing touchdowns. Kade Sorensen led in tackles with 5.5, one sack and two tackles for loss. Schneider had two interceptions; Xander Harwood had one. Crawford’s impressive three-touchdown performance included a punt return for a TD.

ACGC’s next game is at Mount Ayr (1-2) on Friday, Sept. 19. No. 4 ACGC has won the last four straight including two games last season, 41-14 and 40-14.

Charger girls cross country runs at Gilbert meet

The ACGC girls cross country team competed at the Gilbert Cross Country meet at Iowa State University on Thursday, Sept. 11. ACGC placed 20th in a crowded field with a team score of 618. Brooklyn Schafer ran the best time for ACGC, placing 109th in 23:10.18. The Chargers next meet is at Panorama on Thursday, Sept. 18.

ACGC competes at Gilbert meet

The ACGC boys cross country team competed against a packed field at the Gilbert Cross Country meet on Thursday, Sept. 11. ACGC placed 20th with a team score of 565. Preston Kent ran the best race for ACGC, placing 52nd in 17:38.32. The Chargers next meet is at Panorama on Thursday, Sept. 18.

Panorama football takes on Earlham tonight

The Panorama football team (1-1) travels to Earlham (1-1) tonight, Friday, Sept. 12. Both teams are coming off of victories. Panorama’s 28-22 win over South Hamilton was boosted by Cruz Crandall’s four passing TDs. Earlham had a 60-7 win over Martensdale-St Marys. The series between these schools is 4-2 in Panorama’s favor. Earlham won last year’s game, 42-7. Panorama won the year before, 49-21.

The Panorama boys cross country team scored 174 points to place sixth at the Greene County meet on Thursday, Sept. 11. No. 20 Ogden won the meet with 75 points. The best finish for Panorama came from Bladyn Wearmouth, who placed 23rd in 19:50. The Panthers’ next meet is at home on Thursday, Sept. 18.
