Iowa Trenchless contributes $20,000 to Panorama’s weight room project

Special to the Times Vedette

Iowa Trenchless is putting the finishing touches on the Panorama School District’s weight room overhaul. The company’s $20,000 contribution directly funds the complete set of new dumbbells and kicks off the replacement of the room’s bumper plates, bringing student-athletes one huge step closer to a fully, more modern facility.

Building on earlier upgrades –– including new flooring and custom Power Lift racks built nearby in Jefferson –– this latest support allows the district to outfit the room with cable stations, posterior chain developers, foam plyo boxes and targeted strength equipment.

Thanks to this boost, Panorama students will get earlier access to high-caliber training gear here at home.

“Jason, Shari and the whole team at Iowa Trenchless step up for Panorama time and time again,” said Bruce Dahlhauser, activities director. “We genuinely can’t thank them enough for their continued backing. Partners like them make a massive difference in what we can offer our kids, and their support ensures our athletes have the tools they need to succeed.”

Guthrie County Fair cribbage tournament results

Special to the Times Vedette

The Guthrie County Fair held a cribbage tournament Friday, Sept. 4 at the Events Center.

A total of 52 people played four games. Chuck Wolf got first place, followed by Marvin Smith in second and Lyle Laughery in third. The following earned fourth through 10th place: Casey Creese, Dave Coffman, Dennis Mahoney, Rich Bachman, Carol Laughery, Karen Eby and Mike Smith.

There were five 24 hands: Chase Patrick, Denise Cook, Jason Berry, Rich Bachman and Steve Orther. There were also five skunks.

The tournament was sponsored by the family of Milo Rees. Prize money sponsors are Hummel Auto (Panora), Lake Panorama Realty (Panora), ToJo’s (Jamacia), Bryton Insurance Agency (Panora), Willow Creek Custom (Bayard), Sunset Realty (Panora), Farmers State Bank (Yale), Guthrie County State Bank (Guthrie Center and Panora), Mickey’s (Yale), State Farm Insurance (Guthrie Center), Crafty’s Coffee (Panora), Dowd Drug (Guthrie Center), Hometown Foods (Panora and Guthrie Center), Primetime (Guthrie Center), NAPA Auto (Panora), Casey Creamery (Casey) and Sue Mozingo.

Thank you to Karen and Bill Eby for all their help.

What are the odds?

“On Aug. 23, 2026, Bob Rye and I (both more than 76 years old and lifelong cribbage players) saw a rare 23 hand. Bob had it. These 23 hands occur in only one in 37,037 hands dealt or 0.0027% of hands dealt. Has anyone else ever seen a 23 hand? We had never seen one prior to this.” – Mike Wells
