Charger boys upset West Central Valley, 64-55

The strong second half of the season continued for the ACGC boys basketball team (8-9) with an away win against West Central Valley (12-8) on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The game puts the Chargers one win away from reaching .500, something that seemed like a far cry just a few weeks ago.

Joe Crawford led the Chargers in scoring with 19 points, shooting 50% from the field, and led the team in assists with seven. William Skram with 14 and Blaize Dorsey with 13 joined him in double-figure scoring. The most impressive stat line came from Johnny Kading, who had eight points, 16 rebounds, four steals, four blocks and three assists.

ACGC girls fall to No. 14 Coon Rapids-Bayard, 60-45

The ACGC girls basketball team (15-4) lost at No. 14 Coon Rapids-Bayard (15-5) on Thursday, Feb. 5. A slow first quarter for the Chargers ended up being the cause of their demise, heading into the first break down 23-7. ACGC bounced back with a better second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 14-8, to bring the score to 31-21 heading into halftime. Another strong third quarter from CR-B kept ACGC at bay.

The next game for ACGC is at home against Pleasantville (7-10), tonight, Friday, Feb. 6. The Chargers have won the last three games against the Trojans, including a 58-33 win last season.

ACGC girls defeat West Central Valley, 46-30

The ACGC girls basketball team (15-3) defeated West Central Valley (7-13) away from home on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Camdyn Richter led in scoring for the Chargers with 17 points. Meranda Gruber with 11, and Stella Largent with 10, joined her in double-figure scoring. Largent’s double-double streak ended, but she still led the team in rebounds with seven, as well as steals with six. Gruber led the team in assists with five.

Panthers lose to Woodward Academy, 71-42

The Panorama boys basketball team (1-17) lost at Woodward Academy (6-7) on Friday, Jan. 30. Two Panthers reached double figure scoring. Cruz Crandall led the team with 15 points, and Brayden Galvan was close behind with 12. Crandall also led the team in rebounds with five. Ty Ratcliff led the team in assists with two. 

Panorama returns to the court tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Woodward-Granger (10-6). W-G won a close game between the two earlier this season, 78-72.

The Panorama girls basketball team (6-12) tips off at Woodward-Granger (11-5) tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 3. W-G won the contest between these squads earlier this season, 57-43.
