ACGC football honored with many All-District selections

The selections for the District A-7 All-District Awards have been announced, and ACGC football players are spread throughout the First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention honors. The Chargers also won Offensive and Defensive MVP and Coach of the Year.

  • Offensive MVP: Joe Crawford
  • Defensive MVP: Carter Richter
  • Coach of the Year: Cody Matthewson
  • First team All-District: Joe Crawford, Brexton Schneider, Brennan Tunink, Jack Sheeder, Oliver Wetzel, Carter Richter, Kade Sorensen, Xander Harwood and Ryder Cline
  • Second Team All-District: Morgun Nolte, Cash Suhr, Thomas Skram, Charlie Christensen and Kinnick Froehlich
  • Honorable Mention: Garrett Lemke, Collin Stringham, Chase Slaybaugh and Angel Martinez

Gimeno Perez, Molloy earn WCAC Honorable Mention

Two Panorama players earned Honorable Mentions from the West Central Activities Conference: Nerea Gimeno Perez and Elah Molloy. Gimeno Perez led the team in assists with 226 and in aces with 52. Also on offense, she had 24 kills. She was second on the team in digs with 134. Elah Molloy finished the season with 20 assists and 14 kills. She shined on defense with a team-high 307 digs.

Draper, Ashworth, Crandall, Lindstrom and Ratcliff earn 1A District 7 honors

Five Panorama football players earned All-District honors. Reed Draper as a WR and Latyn Ashworth as utility were named to the First Team Offense. The duo were the Panthers’ leading receivers. Draper ended the season with 43 catches for 593 yards and seven TDs. Ashworth had 28 catches for 411 yards and five TDs. Ashworth was also the team’s leading returner with 21 returns for 364 yards and one TD.

Cruz Crandall was named Second Team Offense QB. During his time under center, Crandall went 86/183 through the air for 1,084 yards and 11 TDs.

Gavin Lindstrom and Trey Ratcliff were named to the Second Team Defense as linebackers. Ratcliff led the team in tackles with 44 and 22 solo tackles. He also had four tackles for losses and two sacks. Lindstrom was second on the team in tackles with 40.5 and solo tackles with 21.

Perry places 6th at Ames Regional Swim Meet

The Perry swim team, which coops with Panorama, placed sixth with 164 points at the Ames Regional Swim meet on Saturday, Nov. 8. Ames won the meet with 476 points. Panorama athlete Malia Jacobsen placed 16th in the 100Y breaststroke with a time of 1:27.55, and 15th in the 200Y individual medley with a time of 2:50.78.

Perry will compete at the 2025 IGHSAU State Swimming and Diving Finals on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 13-14 at the University of Iowa.

ACGC falls to West Sioux in quarterfinals, 24-14

The ACGC football team (10-1) had its season end at the hands of West Sioux (10-1) on home on Friday, Nov. 7 in the Class A quarterfinals. ACGC held a 14-13 lead heading into halftime but surrendered 11 unanswered points in the second half, which sent the Falcons to the UNI Dome.

West Sioux will face MMCRU (11-0). On the other half of the bracket, Saint Ansgar (11-0) faces Wapsie Valley (11-0).

Perry swim team competes at Regionals on Saturday

The Perry swim team, which coops with Panorama, competes at the Ames Regional Swim Meet on Saturday, Nov. 8. Other teams competing at the meet are Algona, Ames, Carroll, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Fort Dodge, Linn-Mar and Sioux City West.
