Panthers battle against West Marshall tonight

The Panorama football team (1-4) hosts West Marshall (3-2) tonight, Friday, Oct. 3. West Marshall has the upper-hand in the all-time series, 2-0, but the most recent game was in 2013, a 55-30 Trojan win.

Panthers fall in close contest with West Central Valley, 3-2

The Panorama volleyball team (5-10) nearly completed a miraculous comeback against West Central Valley (5-13) at home on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The Wildcats won the first two sets, 25-15 and 25-19. Panorama stormed back, dominating the next two sets, 25-11 and 25-10, to bring the score to 2-2. WCV won the decisive fifth set, 15-10.

Nerea Gimeno Perez led the team in assists with 10. Ashley Crees with nine kills, and Ruth Fett with seven kills, were her favorite targets. Elah Molloy was everywhere on defense with a game-high 23 digs. Gracie Recker made her presence at the net felt with four blocks. Gimeno Perez had a game-high 10 aces and went 24/25 serving the ball.

Panorama competes at the Madrid Volleyball Invite on Saturday, Oct. 4. Other teams at the competition will be Ankeny Christian, Des Moines East, Webster City, Earlham and Ogden.

No. 3 ACGC hosts Central Decatur tonight

The No. 3 ACGC football team (5-0) plays at home against Central Decatur (2-3) tonight, Friday, Oct. 3. The two teams have only met once before, a 43-7 victory by the Chargers back in 2020. ACGC will want to contain the Cardinals’ dynamic QB, Asher Norman. The senior leads the team in both passing yards (1,433) and rushing yards (205).

Charger volleyball competes at Greene County tournament on Saturday

The ACGC volleyball team (13-4) competes at the Greene County Volleyball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 4. Other teams at the tournament will be Greene County, South Hardin, Nodaway Valley, Carlisle, Carroll, Stanton and Van Meter. ACGC is on a roll as of late, winning its last seven games, currently the longest winning streak in the WCAC.

Girls win, Petersen takes 2nd; boys place 3rd, Kent places 2nd

The ACGC girls and boys cross country teams competed at the West Central Valley Wildcat Invite on Thursday, Oct. 2. The girls team won its meet with a team score of 15. Cadence Petersen ran the best time for ACGC, placing second in 23:27.36.

On the boys side, the Chargers placed third with 71 points. Nodaway Valley won the meet with 26 points. Preston Kent had the best race for ACGC, placing second in 18:00.01.

The next race for both squads is the Jim Klein Cross Country Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 9. The other teams competing are BCLUW, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-Nesco, Eagle Grove, East Marshall, Lynnville-Sully, Madrid, Meskwaki Settlement, Newman Catholic, Ogden, Panorama, Roland-Story, South Hamilton and West Marshall.

Girls place 5th, boys place 10th at Ogden meet

The Panorama boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Ogden Cross Country meet on Monday, Sept. 29. The girls placed fifth with 124 points. No. 10 Boone won the meet with 49. The girls best race come from Kylie Rochholz who placed 14th in 22:21, earning a medal.

On the boy’s side, the Panthers placed 10th with 225 points. No. 1 Riverside won the meet with 24. Bladyn Wearmouth ran the best time for Panorama, placing 37th in 20:34.

The next meet for the Panthers is the 2025 Kim Klein Cross Country Invitational hosted by South Hamilton on Thursday, Oct. 9. The other teams competing are ACGC, BCLUW, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-Nesco, Eagle Grove, East Marshall, Lynnville-Sully, Madrid, Meskwaki Settlement, Newman Catholic, Ogden, Roland-Story, South Hamilton and West Marshall.
