The Panorama volleyball team (7-14) competed at the Madrid Invite on Saturday, Oct. 4. Several tough opponents were in attendance. Panorama walked away from the tournament with two wins, one over Des Moines East (9-10), 2-0, and another against Madrid (3-16), 2-0; and losses to Earlham (14-9), 2-0, Ankeny Christian (13-11), 2-1, Ogden (13-9), 2-1, and Webster City (15-9), 2-0.
Vs. Ankeny Christian: 2-1 L
Most of the offense in this one went through Nerea Gimeno Perez, who had a team-high 10 assists. Andrea Knode and Jessica Randol had four each; Gracie Recker and Ashley Crees had three each had the most kills. Elah Molly led the team in digs with 12. Ruth Fett had two blocks. Gracie Recker and Crees had one block apiece. Evelyn Hummel led the team with three aces. She went a perfect 13/13 serving. Gimeno Perez went 11/11 serving the ball.
Vs. Madrid: 2-0 W
Gimeno Perez led the team with five assists, the other in this game coming from Hailey Hellman. Recker led the team in kills with three. Four Panthers tied for the led in digs with two apiece: Nerea Gimeno Perez, Ines Gimeno Perez, Lexi Galvan and Molloy. Jessica Randol and Crees had one block each. Nerea Gimeno Perez led in aces with seven and went 17/18 serving.
Vs. Des Moines East: 2-0 W
Nerea Gimeno Perez led in assists with six. Recker had the most kills, also with six. Molloy once again led the team in digs with five. Crees, Alexis Olson and Randol had one block each. Recker led in aces with three. Hummel went 15/16 serving.
Vs. Ogden: 2-1 L
Nerea Gimeno Perez had the team-high in assists with six. Recker led the team in kills with seven. Ten different Panthers recorded two or more digs in this game. Molloy had eight, and Nerea Gimeno Perez had seven. Recker and Hummel had one ace apiece. Nerea Gimeno Perez went 12/13 serving.
Vs. Webster City: 2-0 L
Nerea Gimeno Perez led with four assists; Hellman was close behind with three. Recker once again led in kills with four. Seven Panthers recorded kills against Webster City. Molloy continued to lead in digs with 10. Nerea Gimeno Perez and Hummel each recorded an ace. Hummel went a perfect 9/9 serving.
Panorama will compete at a Quadrangular at Grand View Christian on Thursday, Oct. 9, against Des Moines East, Nodaway Valley and Grand View Christian.
