Charger girls qualify for 4 events at state track championships

Several ACGC athletes will be heading to Des Moines to compete on the legendary Drake Stadium blue track in the IGHSAU girls track and field state championships. Ava Campbell qualified individually for the 800- and 1500-meter runs. The girls also qualified for the 800 sprint medley and distance medley.

  • Distance medley at 2:40 p.m.

Saturday, May 18

  • Sprint medley at 9 a.m.
  • Ava Campbell – 800-meter run at 10:30 a.m.
  • Ava Campbell – 1500-meter run at 2:15 p.m.

ACGC boys qualify for 12 events at state track and field championships

Get ready to clear up some space inside the ACGC trophy cabinet. The Charger boys track and field team has the potential to bring home a haul of hardware from the IHSAA track and field state championship meet at Drake Stadium between May 16-18.

Individually, Eli Madsen qualified for the 200-meter dash. Andrew Mahaffey will be competing in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs. Brexton Schneider and Treyton Schneider will be on the track together during the 110-meter hurdles. Lance Bunde aims to continue his season-long dominance in the high jump, and Mike Fuller will compete in discus.

The ACGC relay teams will also be well represented on the blue track. Joe Crawford, Bunde, Anthony Solorzano and Madsen make up the 4×100- and 4×200- meter relay teams competing. Luke Brincks, Bunde, Jarrett McClain and Madsen round out the 4×400 meter relay group. McClain, Easton Stringham, Mahaffey and Gavin Sloss will compete as part of the 4×800 meter relay squad. Crawford, Solorzano, Brincks and McClain will also make up the distance medley team. Last, but certainly not least, Jathan South, Tate Fever and both Schneiders comprise the 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay team.

  • Andrew Mahaffey – 3200-meter run at 3:50 p.m.
  • Eli Madsen – 200-meter dash at 4:40 p.m.
  • 4×800 meter relay at 5:50 p.m.

Friday, May 17

  • Lance Bunde – High jump at 2:05 p.m.
  • Distance medley at 3:20 p.m.
  • Brexton Schneider, Treyton Schneider – 110-meter hurdles at 4:20 p.m.
  • Mike Fuller – Discus at 4:30 p.m.
  • 4×200 meter relay at 5:10 p.m.
  • 4×100 meter relay at 6:40 p.m.
  • 4×400 meter relay at 7:40 p.m.

Saturday, May 18

  • Andrew Mahaffey – 1600-meter run at 2:45 p.m.

ACGC places second at 1A regional golf meet

Competing against eight other schools, the ACGC girls golf team took to the tee box in the 1A regional golf meet at the Lenox Municipal Golf Course. Six schools at the meet did not place. ACGC finished second, scoring 493. Mount Ayr won the meet and will advance after posting a score of 380. Jacie Baker had the best day on the course for the Chargers and the 12th best of all golfers that day with a 111. As a result of their performance, the team qualified for the 1A regional finals on Wednesday, May 15 at Crestwood Hills in Anita.

Panorama boys golf team qualifies for state

Panorama falls to Greene County in first round of substate, 11-1

The Panorama boys soccer team (4-11) saw their season come to a close in the first round of the 2A substate playoffs at the feet of Greene County (11-2) on Monday, May 13. Individual stats were not available for Panorama as of press time.
