Little Miss Panorama and Little Mister Panorama crowned

Little Miss Panorama and Little Mister Panorama were announced on Friday, Aug. 1 on Main Street as part of Panorama Days. Panorama Homecoming King Joel Cooper and Queen Elizabeth Snyder crown Little Mister Landon Martinson and Little Miss Grace Grove. They are pictured with Panora Chamber member Crystal Gaynor.

A Chalk the Block event was held as part of Panorama Days on Friday, Aug. 1 at 4  p.m. in the Panora town square park. 

Panorama Days Kids Fishing Derby sets new record

The Panorama Days Kids Fishing Derby set a new record with 114 kids casting lines under blue skies and sunshine — and the fish were definitely biting. Thanks to the support of Lake Panorama Fin & Feather, T-Dogg’s (for donating 30 dozen night crawlers), and Mark Buster (sponsor of the $60 big fish cash prize), more than $2,000 in trophies, prizes and cash were given out. The event was FREE for families to enjoy.

Ages 3-5

  • Smallest: Henry Allspach – 4” green eared sunfish
  • Biggest: Emmett Randal – 18” catfish

Ages 6-8

  • Smallest: Louise Herro – 3” green eared sunfish
  • Biggest: Kaylee Mathews – 18.25” catfish

Ages 9-11

  • Smallest: Barrett Manning – 2” minnow
  • Biggest: Alister Livingston – 20” catfish

Ages 12-13

  • Smallest: Caleb Pelzer – 2.75” green eared sunfish
  • Biggest: Rowen DeBoef – 19” catfish

First – Alister Livingston (20”) – $60 and trophy

Irv Gerlich Memorial Ryder Cup past captains gather

The Lake Panorama National Irv Gerlich Memorial Ryder Cup is being held Aug. 7-10 at Lake Panorama National Resort. A past captains happy hour was held this year, and all who were in attendance for day one are pictured here.

Panorama Women’s Golf League: Davis, Dunlap and Koenigsberg are Group A low scratch winners; Harris and Toftland in Group B

A total of 47 women played in the Panorama Women’s Golf League on Aug. 5.

In the A group, Phyllis Davis, Ai Dunlap and Kelli Koenigsberg were the low scratch winners with a 31. The second low scratch winner was Janet Luing with a 34. Phyllis Davis was the HDCP winners with a 20. The special event was longest putt on No. 4, and Sharon Wedemeyer was the winner. Phyllis Davis had the fewest putts with 13.

In the B group, Jane Harris and Laura Toftland  were the low scratch winners with a 38. The second low scratch winner was Diane Pieper with a 40. The HDCP winner was Laura Toftland with an 18. The special event was longest putt on No. 4 and Cheryl Howard was the winner. Jane Harris and Diane Pieper had the fewest putts with 17.

Phyllis Davis, Kelli Koenigsberg, Janet Luing, Rhoda Wiliams, Cheryl Howard, JoAnn Smith each had a birdie while Jen Hartwig had two. 

Janet Luing, Debbie Rockwell, Sharon Wedemeyer, Jen Hartwig, Sue Hendricks, Cheryl Howard, Pam Shelton and JoAnn Smith each had a chip in.
