More than 150 attend Veterans Pancake Breakfast fundraiser

A freewill donation Veterans Pancake Breakfast was held Saturday, Nov. 15 from 8-11 a.m. at The Captain’s Pick, and more than 150 people were served. Proceeds from the fundraiser, which were nearly $4,000, are going to VFW Post 5510 and American Legion Post 372.

Can’t live without them

“I wear slippers all the time (Cold feet, Nov. 18, 2025). I don’t think my delivery drivers would recognize me without them. Holiday season church services

This time of year, many local churches hold special services for Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas and/or New Year’s. Below is a partial listing. Additional services or updates can be sent to rich@gctimesnews.com.

  • Sunday, Nov. 23 – Guthrie Center Community Thanksgiving Service, 2 p.m., First Presbyterian Church (701 State St.), sponsored by Guthrie Center Association of Churches. 
  • Wednesday, Nov. 26 – St. Thomas Lutheran Church (2106 Highway 4, Panora) will hold a Thanksgiving service at 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 27 – Thanksgiving service, 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic (603 Main St., Guthrie Center).
  • Sunday, Nov. 30 – Bagley United Methodist (401 Main St.) will hold a “Hanging of the greens” service at 11 a.m. to start the Advent season.
