Charger girls finish 5th at Panorama Coed Invite, win 2 relays

The ACGC girls track and field team scored 80 points at the Panorama Coed Invite on Thursday, May 5. Van Meter won the meet with 123 points. The girls won gold medals in two relay events: the sprint medley relay with Meranda Gruber, Lillie Lauzon, Nora Langgaard and Cadence Petersen and the 4×400-meter relay with Petersen, Lauzon, Langgaard and Blair Brown.

Silver medals were won by Caydence Boals in the shot put and the 4×200-meter relay team of Gruber, Lauzon, Brown and Langgaard. Savannah Akers won the team’s lone bronze medal in the 200-meter dash.

The girls next meet is the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet, Region 1A at Audubon on Thursday, May 14. ACGC will compete for spots at state against Ar-We-Va, Audubon, Boyer Valley, CAM, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Exira-EHK, Glidden-Ralston, IKM-Manning, Logan-Magnolia, Newell-Fonda, Paton-Churdan, Storm Lake St. Mary’s and West Bend-Mallard.

ACGC girls place 10th at WCAC meet

The Charger girls track and field team scored 25 points at the West Central Activities Conference Meet at home on Tuesday, May 5. Van Meter won the meet with 159 points. Caydence Boals won the lone medal for the Chargers, placing second in the shot put. The girls also had fifth-place finishes in the 4×100-meter relay by Meranda Gruber, Savannah Akers, Tessa Slaybaugh and Nora Langgaard, and in the 4×200-meter relay by Gruber, Lillie Lauzon, Cadence Petersen and Langgaard.

Charger boys place 2nd at Panorama Coed Invite, win 6 events

The ACGC boys track and field team scored 112 points at the Panorama Coed Invite on Thursday, May 8. Earlham won the meet with 132 points. The Chargers left the meet with wins in six events: Joe Crawford in the 100-meter dash, Brexton Schneider in the 110-meter hurdles, Preston Kent in the 3200-meter run, the 4×100-meter relay team of Crawford, Schneider, Thomas Skram and Talon Noland, the 4×200-meter relay team of Ryan Martens, Skram, Kaden Sorensen and Noland and the 4×400-meter relay team of Skram, Noland, Johnny Kading and Sorensen.

Silver medals went to Ryan Martens in the 200-meter dash and the 4×800-meter relay team of Lane Stringer, Cole Van Meter, Johnny Kading and Kent. The lone bronze medal was earned by Jack Sheeder in discus.

The next meet for the boys is the Merritt-Charger Invitational on Monday, May 11. ACGC will host Audubon, CAM, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Panorama, Treynor, Underwood, Van Meter and West Central Valley.

Jackson Grambart of Panora to graduate with Highest University Honors at Nebraska

Jackson Grambart of Panora is among 203 University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduating seniors who have completed the requirements to graduate from the University Honors Program this May. Grambart will graduate from the College of Business, earning Highest University Honors.

To graduate from the Honors Program, students must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average and fulfill specific curricular requirements. Students who choose to also complete a culminating Honors senior project are eligible for High University Honors or Highest University Honors.

“These students have demonstrated everything we want Honors graduates to embody: strong critical thinking skills, outstanding resilience in the face of challenges and dedication to their community,” said Tyler White, faculty director of the Honors Program. “We know they will go on to do great things and are so excited for them.”

The Panorama majors baseball teams (Yankees and Red Socks) faced off in Panora on May 5. The game ended in a tie after 6 innings.
