Panthers fall to Ogden, 3-1

The Panorama volleyball team (3-4) lost at home against Ogden (13-6) on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Panorama won the first set convincingly, 25-15, but dropped the next three sets.

Nerea Gimeno-Perez led the way for the Panthers with 13 assists. Hailey Hellman had the next most with four. Ashley Crees led in kills with 11. Gracie Recker was next closest with five. Lexi Galvan covered plenty of ground leading the team with 20 digs. Andrea Knode had the next most with 13. Crees played well on defense with a team-high six blocks. Fett was next closest with four blocks. Crees also led in aces with eight. Hellman and Gimeno-Perez were next closest with three each.

The next game for the Panthers is on Tuesday, Sept. 22 against Grand View Christian (4-8). GVC defeated Panorama last season, 2-0, and Panorama won the game before that in 2024, 2-1.

Panorama meet cancelled; Chargers to run next Thursday

The ACGC boys and girls cross country teams were set to compete at the Panorama Cross Country Meet on tonight, Thursday, Sept. 17, but the event was cancelled due to incoming weather. The next meet for both teams is the ACGC Cross Country Meet on Thursday, Sept. 24. The boys and girls welcome 10 other teams to the meet.

ACGC hosts Mount Ayr tonight

The next game for the Chargers is at home against Mount Ayr (1-3) tonight, Friday, Sept. 18. ACGC beat Mount Ayr twice last season, once in the regular season, 28-20, and once in the playoffs, 21-7.

Chargers score big win over Pleasantville, 3-2; Largent crosses 1,500 kills

The ACGC volleyball team (15-2) earned a home win over conference foe Pleasantville (12-5) on Tuesday, Sept. 17. ACGC won the first set in dominating fashion, 25-8, then lost the next two sets to fall behind, 2-1. ACGC won a close fourth set and the deciding fifth set, 16-14, to knock off the Trojans.

Kailee Kautzky had 33 of the Chargers 39 assists. Stella Largent continued her dominating senior season with 30 kills. During the game, Largent reached a massive milestone of 1,500 career kills. Blair Brown had the next most kills with eight. Ilana Baumert led in digs with 18. Rylee Robson had the next most with nine. The Chargers had seven total blocks, with Nora Langgaard leading with three. Baumert also led in aces with six. Brown was close behind with four.

The win keeps ACGC atop the West Central Activities Conference with a perfect 5-0 record to start the season. Van Meter sits behind them at 11-2 (3-0). The next set of games for the girls is at the Carroll Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19. Other teams at the tournament will be Audubon, Carroll, Fort Dodge, IKM-Manning, Newell-Fonda, South Central Calhoun and Storm Lake.

UP TO THE WHEEL COVERS. The area’s wet summer continued last weekend when rainfall ranging from 3 to 4 inches was recorded. Water was standing in low regions making it impossible for drivers to reach their cars without wading in ankle-deep water.
