West Central Valley Meet cancelled, Chargers run on Monday in Glenwood

The ACGC cross country team was set to run at the West Central Valley meet on Thursday, Oct. 1, but the competition was cancelled. The next meet for the Chargers is at Glenwood on Monday, Oct. 5. ACGC will run against Arlington, Buena Vista High Omaha, Clarinda, Council Bluffs Jefferson, Council Bluffs Lincoln, Des Moines Lincoln, Fort Calhoun, Glenwood and South High Omaha.

ACGC football looks to bounce back against Danville tonight

The ACGC football team (4-1) had the longest running regular season win streak in the state snapped against Madrid last Friday, Sept. 25. The Chargers will look to avenge that loss when they take on Danville (4-1) tonight, Friday, Oct. 2. The game will be played in Oskaloosa due to field conditions. Notes on the game provided by ACGC can be found HERE.These teams have not faced each other before. ACGC will have to deal with prolific sophomore QB Hayden Russell, who has 1,087 yards, nine passing TDs, 301 rushing yards and four rushing TDs.

Chargers win 2, lose 1 at Panorama quadrangular

The ACGC volleyball team (24-5) played in three games at a Panorama quad on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The Chargers earned wins against Panorama (7-7), 2-1 and against South Central Calhoun (12-13), 2-0, and one loss against Greene County (12-6), 2-1. After the event, the team celebrated Kailee Kautzky passing 500 assists.

ACGC beat host Panorama in three sets. Kailee Kautzky led in assists with 32, most of them going to Stella Largent, who had 28 kills. Ilana Baumert led in digs with 17. Largent was close behind with 16. Blair Brown and Baumert led in aces with three apiece.

A dominant first set, a close loss in the second set, and a final loss in the third set saw ACGC’s winning streak snapped at six games. Kautzky led in assists with 20 and Largent led in kills with 21. Nora Langgaard led in blocks with three. Baumert led in digs with 15. Kautzky also led in aces with two.

ACGC rebounded after the loss to win in two sets over the Titans. Kautzky again led in assists with 17, and Largent led in kills with 13. Langgaard again rose up on defense with three blocks. Largent led in digs with 13, and Kautzky hit double digits with 10. Brown and Baumert led in aces with two apiece.

The next set of games for the Chargers is the Greene County Volleyball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 3. Other teams at the event will be Carlisle, Carroll, Greene County, Nodaway Valley, South Hardin, Stanton and Van Meter.

Ten Squared Plus men’s group donates $20,700 for welding simulators

On Oct. 1, instructor Bill Messinger and students in his ACGC industrial technology class accepted a check from Barry Monaghan on behalf of the local Ten Squared Plus men’s group. The $20,700 donation is being used to purchase welding simulators so students can learn beginning welding techniques in a virtual reality mode. Messinger noted that this will also save on material usage in his class.
