The Panorama softball team (5-13) dropped both of its games at No. 14 Des Moines Christian (12-4) on Thursday, June 18.

“Our Panther girls played another 3A ranked team in a doubleheader in Urbandale and left it all out there on the field. These girls battled hard for each other and made some great plays but we came up short losing 4-2. Great pitching performance by Lexi Galvan, striking out eight in a complete game loss, and we just didn’t find the holes when we needed to,” Head Coach Ismael Galvan said of game one.

Lexi Galvan was great on the mound with those eight strikeouts and only two walks. Emma Walker provided the offense in game one with two RBIs. Walker, Galvan and Bridgete White contributed with hits in the close game.

“Second game started off great for us, but we just ran out of steam and took the loss. Had some bright spots with home runs by Emma Walker and Levi Galvan to help us compete and was a close game that we led as well going into the bottom of the fourth, up 5-3. Tough matchup for us and happy again how my girls played hard,” Galvan said of game two.

Andrea Knode and Galvan split time on the mound in this game, with Knode striking out two batters in three and one third innings of work. Panther RBIs came from Walker, Galvan, Bridgete White and Knode. Elah Molloy and Walker had multi-hit performances.

The next set of games for the girls are this Saturday, June 20 at the Nodaway Valley Softball Tournament. Other teams competing are Diagonal, Lenox, Melcher-Dallas and Riverside.
