BALL FIELD MONEY. Abbey Brown and Phillip Brown recently presented a check for $250 from a memorial fund for their grandfather, Denzel Brown, to Guthrie Center schools superintendent Steve Smith. The money will go into a fund for a new softball field. Smith reported the fund now totals $1,600.

PICNIC IN THE PARK. The Guthrie Center Lions Club held a picnic at Mitchell Park Monday night to dedicate a new shelter house built by the club last year. Newly elected president Terry Wall (left ) and vice-president Jim Denny are shown with a plaque commemorating the building in memory of Harold Hill, first local member.
