During the regular meeting of the Guthrie Center City Council on Aug. 10, Cory Campbell provided an annual update regarding the fire department and its facilities. He showed photos of portions of the fire hall in need of repair or replacement. He noted that the fire crew repairs things as able and uses grant funding when possible.
Campbell noted that several doors are a particular area in need. He said rust has caused gaps.
“The doors are not weather tight at all,” Campbell said.
The council approved replacement of the doors as requested.
Becky Benton (State Street Insurance) presented information regarding renewal of the city’s workers’ compensation coverage. The council voted to renew the coverage as recommended by Benton.
As part of the consent agenda, the council approved a shed permit for 304 South Fifth St. (L. Hall).
City Administrator Kris Arrasmith shared the swimming pool’s planned closing date of Aug. 14 and the plans for a “doggie swim” event on that evening from 6-9 p.m., as in previous years.
The council’s next regular meeting is set for Aug. 24. The public is welcome.
