The Panorama football team lost its game against Southwest Valley, 35-18, in Corning Friday, Aug. 21 in its first regular-season game. The Panthers took the early lead with a first-quarter touchdown pass from senior Cruz Crandall to senior Reed Draper. The two would connect for two more touchdowns, one each in the third and fourth quarters. However, Southwest Valley’s 15-point second quarter gave them a lead they would not relinquish. It was solidified with 13 points in the third quarter and seven in the fourth. While the Panthers scored their three touchdowns through the air, Southwest Valley dominated the running game with 277 yards (to Panorama’s 17) for two touchdowns. They added 233 kickoff return yards (to Panorama’s 122) for two touchdowns. They had one passing touchdown.
Crandall completed 11 of 20 passing attempts for 173 yards in the air and had one interception. Draper had seven receptions for 121 yards. Devonne Bell, senior, had 12 of the team’s 25 rushing attempts for 25 yards. Cole Carstens, senior, led with 11 tackles.
Panorama (0-1) faces cross-county rival ACGC (0-0) Friday, Aug. 28, at home, with kickoff at 7 p.m. Panorama leads the series 9-5 since 2008.
