The ACGC volleyball team (2-0) started its season off with a pair of wins at Martensdale-St Marys on Tuesday, Aug. 25. ACGC defeated both M-SM (0-1) and Earlham (0-1), 3-0.
Vs. Earlham, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17
ACGC won in straight sets against Earlham. Kailee Kautzky led the way in assists with 22. Stella Largent was on the end of the majority of them, leading the way with 16 kills. Blair Brown contributed nine kills as well. Kautzky, Meranda Gruber and Olivia Mahaffey had one block each. Digs were split fairly evenly throughout the team with Ilana Baumert leading with six. Brown and Gruber had five apiece. Baumert also led in aces with four and successful serves, going 18/18.
Vs. M-SM, 25-9, 25-9, 25-8
It was more of the same in game two. Kautzky again led in assists, this time with 24. Largent led in kills, this time with 17. Brown was next closest with five, and Nora Langaard was behind her with four. Brown and Langaard also had one block apiece. Baumert led in digs with nine. Brown was a close second with seven. Kautzky led the way in aces with five. She and Baumert both went 15/15 on serves.
The next game for the girls is Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Panorama for a triangular against the Panthers (1-1) and West Central Valley (0-1).
