Orange sky

Special to the Times Vedette

Thunderstorms and heavy winds moved into the area Tuesday evening, unfortunately creating some damage but also providing incredible colors. An orange sky is a fascinating phenomenon that can be explained by the role of atmospheric particles, the scattering of light and even the influence of pollution.

After the storm cleared last night, the sky turned bright orange, as shown in this photo form Burchfield Cove at Lake Panorama by Carolyn Koberg.

Guthrie Center garage sales fill the town

By Rich Wicks | Times Vedette

Guthrie Center’s citywide garage sales found sunny weather on Friday, June 13, and Saturday, June 14. The official map showed 29 garage sales that had registered with the city, but even more were open and doing business. As usual, citywide cleanup day follows the garage sales. Cleanup day will be Wednesday, June 18 for those who have registered with City Hall. Members of the ACGC baseball team will be helping with the citywide cleanup. Any metal items they collect will be turned in for scrap to help raise funds. This year’s funds will support the youth baseball and softball programs.

Carolyn Masters had something for everyone at her garage sale.

Skylar Hayes’ yard sale included a bicycle and a motorcycle.

Lawton Wright found a cup to buy at the sale of Rhonda McVey and Joanne Zieser.
