The Panorama softball team (4-9) lost both of its home games in a doubleheader against No. 5 Van Meter (11-3) on Friday, June 12.

Game one

Panorama was primed for an upset victory in this game, leading 6-3 heading into the fifth inning. Van Meter poured in five runs in the top of the sixth inning, which gave them an 8-6 lead. Panorama tacked on one lead in the bottom of the sixth but could not regain its lead.

Panorama matched Van Meter in hits with 10. Bridgete White was lights out in this game, going 3/3 with two doubles, one homerun, three RBIs and one walk. Panorama had one RBI apiece from Ines Gimeno-Perez and Peyton Walker. Lexi Galvan spent five innings on the mound, striking out three batters. Andrea Knode pitched the other inning, allowing two hits.

Game two

The second game was a different story with Van Meter taking an early lead and not letting the Panthers get off the ground. Panorama’s two hits came from Knode and Walker. Andrea and Aleah Knode split time on the mound at two innings apiece, both striking out one batter.

The ACGC softball team (3-12) lost a close game at home on Monday, June 15 to Panorama (5-9). The back-and-forth game saw ACGC leading, 2-0, at the end of the first inning. By the fourth inning, Panorama had tied the game, 3-3, and took the lead, 4-3, in the fifth. ACGC answered back with one run in the sixth to tie it, 4-4. Panorama took the lead back in the seventh, only for ACGC to answer and send the game to extras. Panorama would eventually win in the ninth inning.

Caydence Boals led the way with two RBIs on two singles. Kailee Kautzky and Trinity Calhoun both had one RBI. Karlie Kautzky went a perfect 4/4 with three singles and one double. Jerzee Huss spent all nine innings on the mound, striking out five batters.

The girls are back on the diamond tonight, Tuesday, June 16, at Ogden (11-10). ACGC beat Ogden earlier this season, 6-5.

The ACGC baseball team (5-8) defeated Panorama (2-12) at home on Monday, June 15. ACGC was leading 8-1 heading into the final inning, thinking they had an easy win in the books. But, a late Panorama flurry of six runs in the seventh gave the Chargers a scare.

Colton Clark led the team in RBIs with two. Thomas Skram, William Skram and Blaize Dorsey all had one RBI. Thomas Skram with two doubles and Chase Slaybaugh with two singles had multi-hit performances. Cal Clark spent the majority of the game on the mound, striking out eight batters in six innings to earn the win. Chase Slaybaugh and Bryce Benda split the final inning.

ACGC travels to face Ogden (9-9) today, Tuesday, June 16. Ogden has historically had the upper hand on ACGC and won the contest earlier this season, 5-2. ACGC did pick up a win over Ogden last season, 13-6.

The ACGC softball team (2-11) lost both games in a home doubleheader against No. 2 I-35 (11-3) on Thursday, June 11. ACGC scored all three of their runs in game one in the first inning before the I-35 charger. Trinity Calhoun had two RBI double. Caydence Boals had a sacrifice RBI to contribute. Jerzee Huss struck out one batter in three innings of work.

In game two, the score was much closer. ACGC scored one run in the sixth and one run in the seventh to stop the shutout. Huss and Tessa Slaybaugh had multi-hit performances, both with two singles. Megan Underwood had the team’s lone RBI. Underwood pitched all seven innings.

The next game for the Chargers is at Perry (0-12) tonight, Friday, June 12.

The Panorama baseball team (2-9) secured back-to-back wins this week with an away win against Ogden (5-9) on Tuesday, June 9. Panorama scored one run in the first and another run in the second to go up, 2-0. Ogden tried to rally late with a run in the sixth, but Panorama held them off for the win.

Panorama had eight hits, all singles, with two coming from Mason Cates, who went 2/3. RBIs were contributed by Cruz Crandall and Brody Steenblock. Panorama was disciplined at the plate, securing nine walks, spread out between nine batters. Nolan Sheehy was lights out on the mound, pitching six innings, striking out seven and only allowing three hits to earn the win. Crandall pitched the other inning.

Panorama will host a doubleheader against Van Meter (5-6) tonight, Friday, June 12. Van Meter won the doubleheader between these two last season, both 10-0 results.
