Panther girls falter against Coon Rapids-Bayard, 54-25

The Panorama girls basketball team (3-8) lost its away game against Coon Rapids-Bayard (9-2) on Monday, Jan. 12. Panorama was only down three points heading into the second quarter, but CR-B put together a dominant second quarter, outscoring Panorama 15-2. Morgan Crees led the Panthers in scoring with 11 points. Ashley Crees led the team in rebounds with eight.

Panorama girls basketball blow out Ogden, 67-27

The Panorama girls basketball team (3-7) picked up a home win against Ogden (0-12) on Friday, Jan. 9. The victory ends Panorama’s three-game losing skid. The Panthers did the majority of the damage in the first quarter, outscoring Ogden 29-8. Three Panorama players hit double figure scoring: Nerea Gimeno-Perez (14), Morgan Crees (13) and Ines Gimeno-Perez (11). Crees stuffed the state sheet, adding a game-high eight steals, six rebounds and five assists. Ruth Fett flirted with a double-double with eight points and seven rebounds. In addition to Nerea Gimeno-Perez game-high 14 points, she added four steals, four rebounds and two assists.

Panorama boys wrestle at PCM Tournament

The Panorama boys wrestling team hit the mats for the PCM Tournament on Saturday Jan. 10. Blake Schwartz (165) had the best result for the Panthers that day, placing second. Panorama placed ninth out of the 15 teams that featured 2A and 3A schools. Solid performances also came from Blake Steiner (120) and Blake Holman (113), who both placed fourth.

Panorama’s next competition is the East Union Quadrangular on Thursday, Jan. 15. Panorama will compete against East Union, Martensdale-St Marys and Southwest Valley.

Cline wins championship at Tri-Center Invitational

The ACGC boys wrestling team competed at the Tri-Center Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 10. One Charger left the meet at the top of the podium: Ryder Cline (150). Cline won his championship bout over Luke Cleaver of Missouri Valley by an 8-7 decision. Three Chargers finished in second place: Charlie Christensen (144), Carter Richer (215) and Jack Sheeder (285).

The next competition for the Chargers is on Thursday, Jan. 15. ACGC will compete at the Woodbine Quadrangular against Riverside, Tri-Center and Woodbine.

ACGC boys score win against Exira-EHK, 51-45

The ACGC boys basketball team (3-6) picked up an away win against Exira-EHK (0-9) on Saturday, Jan. 10. Box score and individual statistics were not yet available for this contest, but the win boosts the Chargers’ confidence following a tough stretch of games against the top end of the WCAC in Des Moines Christian and Madrid.

ACGC looks to keep that momentum rolling against WCAC opponent, Woodward-Granger (6-4), tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 13. W-G won the first contest between these teams earlier this season, 61-53.
