Panorama girls drop opener to Woodward-Granger, 57-43

The Panorama girls basketball team (0-1) lost its season opener at home on Tuesday, Dec. 2 against Woodward-Granger (0-1). Panorama got off to a rough start, exiting the first quarter down 25-2. The Panthers clawed their way back to make it a closer contest. Morgan Crees led the way in scoring with 19 points. Crees also led the team in rebounds (six), assists (four) and tied for steals (three) with Nerea Gimeno-Perez. Perez was the next highest scorer for Panorama with seven.

Panther boys basketball loses to IKM-Manning, 73-47

The Panorama boys basketball team (0-2) lost at IKM-Manning (1-1) on Thursday, Dec. 4. Panorama trailed by nine points heading into the second half, 33-24, but a rally from IKM-Manning ultimately separated the two teams.

The Panthers hit the hardwood again tonight, Friday, Dec. 5 at Madrid (2-0). Panorama has lost its last six games to the Tigers dating back to 2022.

Panther boys hoops fall late to Woodward-Granger, 78-72

The Panorama boys basketball team (0-1) lost its first game of the season in close fashion to Woodward-Granger (1-0) at home on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Panorama ended the first quarter leading, 17-16, but would cede the lead to the Hawks, 30-27, heading into the half. The Panthers were down by just two points heading into the fourth quarter, 53-51. The Hawks would ultimately win, 78-72, in large part thanks to their free throw shooting. W-G went 23/31 from the stripe, compared to 9/12 for the Panthers.

Cruz Crandall put together a fantastic performance for Panorama, leading the game in scoring with 29 on 11/19 shooting and 4/10 from behind the three-point line. Crandall would also lead the team in assists with five. Brayden Galvan, with 12, and Jaxson Stauffer and Reed Draper, both with 11, joined Crandall in double-figure scoring. Draper led in rebounds with six.

Charger wrestling wins 2 duals, drops 1 at season opener

The ACGC wrestling team began its season with a quadrangular meet at East Union on Thursday, Dec. 4. The Chargers won two of their duals on the night — one against East Union, 52-18, and the other against West Central Valley, 48-27. ACGC lost its dual against Nodaway Valley, 47-30.

ACGC’s next competition is the Dennis Field Wrestling Tournament at Woodward-Granger on Saturday, Dec. 5. ACGC will compete against Belle Plaine, Colfax-Mingo, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Des Moines Roosevelt, East Marshall, Martensdale-St Marys, Southeast Warren and Woodward-Granger.

ACGC’s Baudler chosen to coach 2026 Pizza Ranch IBCA Senior All-Star Series

ACGC’s head girls basketball coach, Brad Baudler, was selected as the one of the coaches for the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association’s 2026 Pizza Ranch IBCA All-Star Series. Baudler will be joined by co-coach Richard Wettengel of Council Bluffs St. Alberts to lead the Southwest team. Games will be at Dallas Center-Grimes High School on March 28, 2026.

“Congratulations to Coach Baudler for this prestigious honor. It is a well-deserved selection and represents his commitment to basketball and to the coaching profession. This selection represents a great opportunity for him to represent his program, school, and community in a great atmosphere coaching many of the state’s finest and most talented basketball players,” the IBCA said in a statement.

No. 8 Chargers roll past West Central Valley, 58-20

The No. 8 ACGC girls basketball team (2-0) defeated West Central Valley (0-2), 58-20 on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at home. Two Chargers reached double figures in scoring: Camdyn Richter with 16 and Kailee Kautzky with 12. Stella Largent and Meranda Gruber nearly joined them with nine each. Largent led the team in rebounds with six. Freshman Jerzee Huss led the team with six assists. Littler was a menace on defense with a team-high six steals. 

ACGC’s next game is against Woodward-Granger (2-0), tonight, Friday, Dec. 5. The Hawks started their season with wins over Greene County and Panorama.
