The Panorama softball team (7-14) scored two wins during the Nodaway Valley Softball Tournament on Saturday, June 20. 

“I am proud of the way our team showed up focused and ready to take the field. They have been playing hard for each other all season and look forward to finishing the season strong,” Head Coach Ismael Galvan said.

Vs. Nodaway Valley (9-9), 5-4 W

In game one of the weekend, Panorama faced host Nodaway Valley. Panorama held a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh inning, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh. That extra cushion proved necessary, as N-V scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Panorama had just four hits in this game coming from Ines Gimeno-Perez, Lexi Galvan, Hannah Dishman and Emma Walker. RBIs were by Gimeno-Perez, Andrea Knode, Elah Molloy and Walker. Lexi Galvan pitched all seven innings, striking out four batters.

Vs. Diagonal (1-9), 21-6 W

Hits were difficult to come by against N-V but easy to find against Diagonal. Panorama scored nine runs in the first inning and eight in the second to quickly put the game out of reach. Walker hit a home run in this game with three RBIs. Galvan hit well with four RBIs and two doubles. Knode, Libby Miller and Bryna Wearmouth each had two RBIs. Molloy, Anabel Pudenz, Bridgete White and Lydia Lleshi all had one RBI. Gimeno-Perez scored four runs. Andrea and Aleah Knode split time on the mound, with Andrea striking out five batters and Aleah striking out one.

Vs. No. 6 Riverside (13-4), 13-2 L

No. 6 Riverside ended the fun for the Panthers for the weekend in the championship, but it did come with a White homerun for two RBIs to account for Panorama’s offense. Galvan had the team’s other hit, a double. Galvan and Knode pitched in the final, with Knode pithing for five innings, striking out four batters.

The ACGC softball team (3-17) lost at home to West Central Valley (8-10) on Monday, June 22. Shortly after the team hit its first homerun of the season on Friday, Jerzee Huss hit a homerun of her own. Overall, Huss went 2/2 with a homerun, RBI and a single. Trinity Calhoun also had a multi-hit performance with two singles. Huss and Megan Underwood were on the mound for ACGC. Underwood pitched six innings and struck out two batters.

The girls return to the diamond tonight, Tuesday, June 23 to host Woodward-Granger (9-11). ACGC lost to W-G earlier this season, 13-1.

The ACGC softball team (3-16) lost late at Griswold (12-2) on Friday, June 19. ACGC had led the Tigers 7-5 heading into the sixth inning. Griswold scored twice in the sixth inning to tie the game, 7-7, and would eventually win in walk off fashion in the bottom of the seventh.

ACGC hit its first home run of the season on a pinch hit, two-RBI blast by eighth-grader Monroe Fagan. Other RBIs came from Kailee Kautzky, Caydence Boals, Trinity Calhoun and Kiera Boals. Jerzee Huss spent the entire game on the mound, striking out three batters.

The ACGC baseball team (6-11) defeated West Central Valley (6-14) at home on Monday, June 22. The game was knotted up at 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning when ACGC rattled off three runs to take the lead and secure the win.

Thomas Skram went 2/3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. William Skram and Cal Clark had one RBI each. Clark and Bryce Benda split time on the mound. Clark pitched four and one third innings, striking out five batters. Benda pitched two and two third innings, striking out three and earning the win.

The Chargers remain at home tonight, Tuesday, June 23, to face Woodward-Granger (8-9). The Chargers almost snapped a seven-game losing skid to W-G earlier this season, losing 9-8.

The Panorama baseball team (2-15) lost both games of its doubleheader against Des Moines Christian (13-6) on Thursday, June 18. Individual statistics were  not available as of press time. Panorama managed three runs in game one thanks to two runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth. The Panthers were unable to avoid being shutout in game two.

Panorama’s next game is on Monday, June 22 at Madrid (8-8). Panorama had won five in a row against Madrid before losing to them earlier this season in a close 10-7 game.

The Panorama baseball team (2-13) lost at home to Woodward-Granger (7-6) on Tuesday, June 16. Panorama brought the game within reach after W-G took an early 7-0 lead. In the third inning, Panorama scored fives to bring the score to 7-5. However, W-G scored 12 runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

RBIs came one apiece by Brayden Meinecke, Adrian Leone and Mason Cates. Leone with two singles and Meinecke with a single and a double put together multi-hit performances for the Panthers. Panorama used five pitchers in this game: Cruz Crandall, Meinecke, Brody Steenblock, Leone and Cates.
