David Wagler joins the board of directors at Farmers State Bank.

Farmers State Bank of Yale announced the appointment of David Wagler to its board of directors.

Wagler has more than three decades of experience in engineering, construction estimating and real estate. A 1984 graduate of Sigourney High School, he earned an associate of applied science degree from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo in 1986. He began his career in the engineering department of Polk County before moving into the private sector in earthwork and underground utility estimating at both Corell Contractor and McAninch Corporation in Des Moines.

In 2012, Wagler transitioned into real estate, earning his Iowa real estate license and later his broker license in 2014. He worked at Lake Panorama Realty until 2019, when he co-founded Sunset Realty with Laura Kemble. Wagler sold his interest in the brokerage in October 2023 but remains actively licensed and continues to assist clients with buying and selling properties.

Wagler and his wife, Shanell, live in Guthrie County and have two children. Their daughter, Maddie, lives in Winterset with her husband, Trevor Heimbaugh, and their two sons, Franklin and Hudson. Their son, Michell, lives in West Des Moines and works in sales in DeSoto.

Wagler joins the board following the retirement of longtime Director James Koch.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dave to the board,” Scott Stanley, president of Farmers State Bank, said. “His broad expertise and deep ties to the region make him an ideal addition as we continue serving our customers and community with integrity and forward thinking.”
