The Adair Women’s Club met Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Adair Library. The meeting began with a program presented by Gina Gettler and her therapy dog, Lily, assisted by Kristin Sheffield, principal from the Earlham Community School District. Lily has been trained to visit schools, libraries, nursing homes and other places to provide therapy involving comfort, security and companionship. She visits the Earlham school twice a week.
Following the program, co-president Sheryl Miller called the meeting to order and members recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Nine members and three guests answered the roll call topic, “Tell about your favorite pet.” Pat Pettinger gave the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports, which were approved.
Halloween was discussed. Members are asked to donate candy and/or small toys to fill the treat bags from Women’s Club. This will possibly be done before or during the next meeting. The bags will be handed out at Patsy Wood’s home. The Festival of Trees committee met prior to the meeting tonight to begin making plans for the annual event to be held Dec. 5 at the Adair Fire Hall.
Community news was shared, including the upcoming Adair Farmers and Crafts Markets and the craft making opportunity at the Adair Library.
The next meeting will be held on Oct. 28 with the program presented by Darrin Plowman of Plowman Earthmoving. Jan Mueller will be the hostess.
