During their annual Casino Night fundraiser, the Guthrie Center Fire Department presented Years of Service Awards to five active and two retired firefighters. Presenting the awards was Lonnie Newhall, the Fourth Vice President of the Iowa Firefighters Association. Those receiving the awards were: Vice President Newhall, presenter; Tom Reil, retired, received a ring for 35 years of service; Mike Petersen, retired, received a watch for 30 years of service; Justin Downing had 20 years of service; Brady Langgaard had 10 years of service; Derek Betts had five years of service; and Kolby Burns had five years of service. Not pictured is Mike Kenyon, who had 20 years of service. Those with 20 years of service and more received certificates from the Iowa Firefighters Association.
