On Saturday, Sept. 26, as part of Statewide Volunteer Day for Iowa’s state parks, a small but mighty group of volunteers at Springbrook State Park worked on removing invasive plants. Pollinator plots have been created in areas of the park to help native plants thrive, which controls erosion and provides natural habitat for many insects, birds and other animals. Using pruners and elbow grease, the volunteers cut and pulled out many invasive plants to leave room for native species to thrive.
